I couldn't keep from smiling throughout the whole thing. Our poor den leader got choked up as he passed out their Arrows of Light even though he's going with us to the new troop. It doesn't sound like a big deal when you start out, but after going through the work he did to earn his, I have to say it is pretty momentous. It's the equivalent, I guess, of a Bar Mitzvah. You know -- the crossing into manhood kind of thing.
Here's the Dude with his Arrow of Light. This is the only 'badge' he earned that will cross over to Boy Scouts with him. To earn it, you have to do all but one or two of the badges that can be earned as a Webelo. Each painted stripe or other mark stands for something in his Cub Scout 'career.'
