In my Tuesday morning Ladies Bible class, we are doing an aside along with our study. Each week we look up verses that have to do with a particular fruit of the spirit. Of course, I can't just look them up. I have to make a little page with a bowl of fruit at the top to put them on.
Anyhow, I have been running a little behind because I was sick at the beginning and missed class. I caught up this week though. On Tuesday, the fruit was Patience and next week's is Kindness. Apparently, it takes a while for things to sink in however -- like two days.
You all know how frustrated I was with myself on Tuesday after my last entry. I was typing up my patience pages and guess what the first verse was --
Galatians 6:9
So don’t get tired of doing what is good. Don’t get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.
Uh, ouch.
Guess what the second was --
Romans 12:12
Be glad for all God is planning for you. Be patient in trouble, and always be prayerful.
Okay. I get it.
Apparently not because look what else was on my list --
Hebrews 10:36
Patient endurance is what you need now, so you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
and
Colossians 1:11
We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need. May you be filled with joy,
and...
Oh, never mind, I'll just give them all to you. Do you have any to add? By the way, this is the New Living Translation, which I love, love, love.
2 Peter 3:15
And remember, the Lord is waiting so that people have time to be saved. This is just as our beloved brother Paul wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him.
Proverbs 19:11
People with good sense restrain their anger; they earn esteem by overlooking wrongs.
Colossians 3:12
Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Psalm 37:7
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
2 Corinthians 6:6
We have proved ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, our sincere love, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths.
Proverbs 16:32
It is better to be patient than powerful: it is better to have self-control than to conquer a city.
Psalm 27:14
Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
Romans 2:4
Don’t you realize how kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Or don’t you care? Can’t you see how kind he has been in giving you time to turn from your sin?
1 Thessalonians 5:14
Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.
James 1:12
God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
