Thermometer

Rugrat has been wanting to learn about the weather in science. So we got one of the Magic School Bus science kits and decided to do a weather unit.

As part that, she got to make her own thermometer. And test it out.

First, we tried it out in a bowl of hot water.

I really didn't expect a lot but, if you look closely, you can see the water rising in the straw due to the heat. I was impressed it actually worked. lol

Next we tried it in ice water to see if it sank. The hot water worked so well that it seemed like it took forever to go down.

But it eventually did. And we got very excited to see it working.

I have to admit that we are enjoying the experiments quite a bit. I may have to look into another one of the kits.
