Guess what this is.
No. It's not a cute new tote bag.
No. It isn't a messenger bag either.
Wanna know what it is? Hmm? Hmm?
Well, I'll tell you. It's a cushion. For, well, you know, my bum.
When the Chick was born, I fractured my, um, tailbone. It healed and was fine and dandy at the time. Or else I didn't notice it too much (being sleep deprived and starving with a newborn).
But as I am getting older, well, either they're making seats harder or I'm feeling it again. The doctor says that's normal and even told me that I can elevate my knees a little above my bum to help. If you get in my driver's seat in the Kia, you'll think I'm deformed in some way because I have it set just so. It's a strange way to sit but it works.
However, some of the chairs in other various and sundry places (particularly at church) do not have lumbar control. And while the pews at church are still manageable, there are some other sitting places 'round there that are not.
So, I decided to sew up a cushion for myself. Wouldn't you know the first time in a while that I actually set out to sew for myself, it would be for that region? But you know the old saying, the squeaky wheel gets the cushion... or something like that.
I didn't want everyone to notice when I carried it in. I had visions of people pointing and laughing and saying stuff like "Look, she needs a cushion for her onyun." [I know some of you don't know who Arsenio Hall is but I thought it was hilarious when he and Whoopi Goldberg discussed her 'onyun' on his show back in the day]
So I purposely set out to make it look like a bag. Plus, I carry so much stuff for class and worship that I have often threatened to buy one of those donkey's they use in the Grand Canyon for use on Sunday morning so I didn't need one more thing in my hand hence the strap. I think I succeeded and I've already given it a try at life group. It was just what my bum... er... I needed.
