The National Cowboy Museum

On Wednesday evening, we had some special visitors arrive -- my mom and her husband -- to spend a few days with us.

After dropping the Chick off at work on Thursday, we headed over to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum here (Dude didn't want to join us and Hubby was at work). I know what you're thinking... I was kind of the same way when we were encouraged more than once to go check it out by a friend while we were still in South Carolina. That may be why we've been here for 10 months without going. But I was shocked to realize that it was quite entertaining.

My mom and I both agreed that we usually go to a museum to see the one exhibit we're interested in and then we're done. But I didn't get bored at all. I enjoyed the whole thing.

My favorite section was the western town they had set up in one part of the museum. It had two streets that intersected in a "T" shape. Each had buildings and businesses. Many of them allowed you to go inside and check out all the old-timey stuff associated with that particular business.

Like the Sheriff's office....
There were also a chapel, a saloon, a general store, a livery, a doctor's office, a hotel, etc. It was a lot of fun, especially with the sheriff and his deputies wandering around.

They also had a 'children's corral' with activities sized just right for the Rugrat. She got to try out some western wear.

And then take it right off.

And there were some other things for her to do.

After our visit to the museum, we went to have some more fun at the zoo.
