What's Going On...

***The Chick was going down quick in her studies. She had been working herself into some bad grades. However, the manager there gets it and, besides wanting to keep a good worker who time is mostly flexible, affirmed what we had already told the Chick -- that school comes first and is more important.

Last week, she marked the Chick's schedule for this week as 'not available.' We had had our doubts that she wouldn't be called in but they have yet to call. She has, as a result, had the entire week to get caught up and her grades show it. One example, her pre-calculus grade was a very low 'C' to begin the week but is now a very high 'B.' She has been able to give it the time she needed now to understand what was stumping her.

Now we'll just have to see if they stick to the maximum 20 hours a week (or she'll have to quit) that we requested.


***Those grades, of course, would not have worked well with the Senior High Retreat she's going on this weekend either. But God knows how to plan our lives well. Because she has had the week to get caught up, she won't have to back out of the retreat -- an annual youth group event apparently that both we and she had wanted to be able to attend.


***The girls and I are getting ready to hit Branson, MO next week with my mom. It was initially intended to be a weekend for all the girls of the family but life got in the way. We'll miss my sister-in-law and ... stepsister (do you get those AFTER you're grown? I don't know what else to call her though). We're hoping that we can plan something similar again next year and, with the extra notice, everyone will get to go.


***I find it completely unfathomable that Thanksgiving is almost here. I'm sure there's a mistake somewhere. I must write my congressman.
