We've been working through our science curriculum as usual lately but there just haven't been as many experiments that are really feasible for us to do. So we were pretty excited to come across one recently that we were both interested in.
We learned how the Greenhouse Effect (a totally natural process by the way) works. It is so often associated with Global Warming that I didn't even realize that it is not just another name for it. It is actually totally necessary for our survival on Earth.
Some scientists believe it is amplified by the presence of too much carbon dioxide and therefore causes global warming but, according to our text, there is not enough information to determine for sure if that is happening or to what extent.
So to sum up: Greenhouse Effect- good and necessary. Global Warming- bad but not enough info.
Anyhow, we really enjoyed the experiment. And we were even able to relate it to what happens if someone leaves a dog locked in a car even on a relatively mild day.
