Chic (k) Art

The Chick will be taking an art class on Wednesdays beginning next week as part of her home school. After sending off the registration, we received a list of supplies she would need. So off we went to get them. It wasn't anything too expensive but one of the items was sketch pad that measures 18 x 12 inches. Everything else is small. So we decided to make a bag to carry them in. Otherwise something was going to get lost, messed up, or both. So I cut out a basic tote bag but then realized that a messenger bag might be better so the flap could protect her art work in rainy weather.

Here the Chick is sewing up the straps. They were way too long so we had to adjust them after she got it put together. That's okay though because I left the loop inside so she'd have something to hook things to. Then she sewed up the bag parts. She decided she wanted a pocket on the inside too so we did some adjusting there before we put the lining in.

Then she put it all together. I'm pretty proud of her messenger bag. She did everything (including ironing the fabric) except for adjusting the strap. Now she has a perfect sized bag for all of her art stuff and she seems to really like the roominess (is that a word?) of the bag too.

Hey, good job. :) It's good that you can teach her things like that.
