The Chick mentioned the 'q' word at work yesterday explaining that she was being given too many hours (you know -- "quit"). And someone hustled right back there and edited her schedule for her. I think it didn't take long to recognize a good worker when one was around.
In addition, she got her first paycheck yesterday. And we found out that she was getting regular minimum wage... not the legally allowed half-pay-for-teenagers-wage that we thought. Knowing that makes us all feel better since we were pretty sure they were simply taking advantage of her youth and the lower pay rate for as long as possible (for teenagers, the pay rate is legally allowed to raise closer to minimum wage after three months but ridiculously be about half until then).
Apparently we were wrong. They just appreciate someone who is on time and works hard when on the clock. So the job thing may work out after all.
The Chick's words after depositing her first paycheck -- That's the most money I've ever had in there at once - big grin - I'm rich!
Of course, she's a little more financially aware than that but it probably does feel pretty good! And she's got a mom and dad who are very proud of her too.
