Rugrat hit a milestone last week.
Since the night we made it home to South Carolina, she has been sleeping in this toddler bed.
We made it back to South Carolina with her approximately thirty minutes before Wednesday night service. After service and getting to visit with everyone after having been gone for three weeks, we made a late night trip to Wal-Mart to get her a bed (and thankfully thought to get a sheet too).
It was funny because we had been preparing for a baby for all those years and then, when we realized we would bringing home a toddler and moving a week later across several states, we focused on giving away all the baby things we wouldn't need anymore.
Without thinking about the bed she would need.
And she has been in that bed for 2 1/2 years now. We've been working on learning to get up at night and go.
One of the issues we've had with her language is making her understand what we want. If she had been completely fluent in Chinese, we might have been able to tell her the word in both Chinese and English and help her make the conversion. Instead, she was still developing her language and suddenly had to learn a new one. So it is sometimes a struggle to convey exactly what we mean or are referring to.
After filling two progress charts, we placed our order for this (which was happily on sale and about the best price we had found)...
A twin bed with a 'castle' playhouse underneath.
She was super excited about it, especially when she knew on the day that it was supposed to be delivered. She waited anxiously for it to arrive. And hopped all around Chick and I as we put it together.
My favorite thing about it is that it is convertible to a regular loft bed for later and, of course, the slide is completely removable when it becomes too much in the way.
And she has been happily sleeping in it and keeping everything dry since last Wednesday.
