We weren't sure how Halloween would go this year but decided to go with a 'socially distant' way of passing out treats. I saw an idea about putting them on skewers and sticking it out in your yard. Bonus: it helps aerate the yard.
So we came up with a 'Ghouly Garden' that we would plant for trick-or-treaters.
And every time I look at this picture, I think she looks giant in it. What happened to that little girl who couldn't even see over the countertops?
Our garden worked pretty well. Several people commented how cute it was. A few even took pictures of their kids in it (like at a pumpkin patch). If we did something like it again though, I would probably find a way to put more light on it so they could see better. I kept worrying that someone was going to trip or fall. And we had to keep directing them to "just pick something from the garden" once it got dark because they would head for us sitting on the porch before they noticed it.
Still, it was a lot of fun in what has been a not so fun year. And considering that we had just had our power back for a day and a half after it having been out about 40 hours due to the ice storm, I'm not complaining.
