This is a fun, quick and easy meal that everyone seems to love. Cheeseburger pie is a fairly fast to come together meal too (even with my homemade pie crust). The original recipe added in chopped dill pickles and pickle juice but not all of my bunch care for that so I have always left them out with no issues.
Cheeseburger Pie
1 unbaked deep dish pastry shell (9 inch)
1 pound ground beef
1 med. onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups shredded cheese
1/3 cup milk
Optional additions:
1/2 cup chopped dill pickles
1/3 cup dill pickle juice
Line pastry shell with a double thickness of foil. Bake at 450 degrees for 8 minutes. Remove foil and bake 5 additional minutes. You could also use pie weights. Cool.
In large skillet, cook ground beef, onions, and garlic until beef is done. Sprinkle with flour and salt. Stir to blend. Mix in remaining ingredients. Spoon into pastry shell. Bake for 15 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Let stand 15 minutes before cutting.
