It seems like fall really kicks our schedule into gear every year. Things start flying fast and furious. We've already had a lot going on. Here are some of the highlights.
Hubby and I took a little anniversary trip to Branson to see David at the Sight and Sound theater. This was my third time to go to one of their productions but his very first. I was afraid he wouldn't care for it but he really enjoyed it.
On our way to Branson, we stopped off to kick off the Hogs season and scored a free t-shirt in the process.
Our home group met and I decided to make a little fall treat.
You can only fit so many of those chocolate legs and candy eyes onto a blob of frosting so these aren't spiders. They are mutant bugs. LOL. Everyone got a kick out of them and enjoyed them -- even more so when they bit into the cupcakes to find they were filled with green goo filling. After all, if you eat a bug, you gotta have bug guts inside.
We were trying to get ready for Trunk 'R Treat but not having much success because we never seemed to have time. I had planned to wait and just take a day here or there off but I gave up and informed Rugrat much to her delight that we would be taking a fall break for the week before Trunk 'R Treat. I'm not sure why it took me until her senior year to do this. That week is always stressful as we try to get costumes and trunk decorations ready. So much easier if we just take some time off.
Initially, Rugrat wanted to be a coffee cup for Halloween. She's really crazy about her coffee shop job! I had an idea for it and got it mostly put together but it just didn't want to hang right and wasn't working.
So we pivoted. She had mentioned that she might like to be an emoji sometime. So we made that happen.
I stripped the fabric off the hula hoop I had been using for the rim of the coffee cup and got another one. Then I pulled out some felt and the glue gun.
Dude was taking Hubby to a concert for his birthday that night so it was just us girls at the Trunk 'R Treat this year. I wasn't really sure what to do for our trunk.
Then Chick suggested we go with a Pokemon theme. She had gotten some cute skirts (from the Tulsa version of Comic-Con) with Eevee and Umbreon (two forms of her favorite Pokemon) on them. So, I wore one and she wore the other. We made ears and tails out of the felt I already had out and the glue gun. Add a few decorations and we were good to go. A whole lot of the kids knew our theme too even though it was a little sparse.
Once we finished with Trunk 'R Treat, I had to start worrying about the rain. Because we were doing these:
That's right. Senior pictures. Taking those made it real. We had to cancel once because of rain and mud. We rescheduled and then it looked like that day was going to be wet so we moved it up a day and managed to get them done.
The end of that week was our congregation's Marriage Ministry event. Last year, they had a mystery dinner and it was a lot of fun so we decided to go to the one this year too.
It was set in the 1920's and, of course, I got to be a drunk.
