It's That Time of Year

I love this time of year. What other time of year is it totally acceptable to have 50 different desserts in your house at the same time? When you go to the store, you get to watch all these stressed out people act like rabid monkeys over some pretty ridiculous things. And for some reason, red and green (which, come on, honestly, they don't go together) is the color of EVERYTHING. It's just a fun time of year.

It is a shame that people let themselves get so harried and stressed out though. Yesterday, I went to Wal-Mart -- in the middle of the day on a Tuesday. Based on the parking lot alone, it was pretty busy. I heard more people honking their horns than I ever do at that particular one. As I was leaving, one person was honking at another who apparently was moving too slowly for his taste. You know, you should always speed through an area filled with pedestrians. Fortunately, I think the slower driver was also somewhat deaf because they went on their merry little way totally ignoring the less patient one.

I glanced up and caught a stranger's eye. It is true that the holiday season brings people together. I knew that because, as we both chuckled at the scene before us, we shared a grin. Happy Holidays everyone.
