Joshua or Nehemiah

Pretty much everyone knows the story of Joshua and the walls of Jericho. Seven days they marched around the city and on the seventh day after the seventh time around when they blew their trumpets and shouted, the wall came tumbling down. It doesn't sound like a lot of effort really on their part. After all, God was proving to everyone that He was with them. Then there's Nehemiah. He went back to Jerusalem to rebuild its walls. Not only did he face opposition from the people surrounding Jerusalem but from within as well. It took them 52 days of concerted effort to rebuild that wall. Why am I bringing this up? I've been thinking lately about how easy it is to tear someone down with a thoughtless comment but how hard it is to repair that. I tend to take it out on others, especially my family, when I am in a funk. How many of those holes are still in their walls? If it took 52 days to build a wall but only 7 to tear it down, I really need to watch myself a lot better. Letting those little zingers out is way too easy for me. I need to start trying a little harder to repair those walls and quit putting holes in them.
