We went to see the play "To Kill a Mockingbird" today downtown. It was wonderful but I always get stressed about downtown Charleston. It's the confined streets, the one-way roads, and finding parking thing I guess. But we did find it and parked in one of the parking garages (it only costs $4 for 2 hours and 9 minutes. Gee. !!!!).
As we walked out onto the street trying to orient ourselves and figure out where the theater was, I turned to ask a mother and son behind me which street we were on. They weren't sure but tried to remember and in the course of the conversation mentioned the name of the theater and said it was "down there." I told them that's actually where we were going. They were too and invited us to walk with them.
Then they asked if we were going to see the play. We told them we were. They, however weren't going to see it -- they were IN IT. How cool is that. We got to talk to some of the actors beforehand.
Later, I told the chick as we were seated, "That definitely isn't something that would happen if you were in a regular school." Homeschool rocks! We're going to miss it next year for moments just like that.
