Well, we had a great time camping this weekend. The Dude took his first canoe ride complete with a very good friend/scout and another scout he likes pretty well. They didn't even tump over. So I count that as a success.
Something I can't really count as a success was my Grilled Pizza. By the way, I only choose to tell you this because I don't want to set myself up as someone who 'always gets it right.' Of course, don't fault the recipe link above. I just looked to it for the technique (among many others -- one of whom preferred such a thin crust that she put holes in it and it still worked).
All I can say is that it was a good thing we had an iron skillet. On the third try, I managed to save it by cooking it in the skillet over the fire in what Hubby dubbed as 'Chicago style.'
Uh... sure honey, whatever it takes.
May I also say that I think it would have been less likely to mess up if I hadn't rushed myself trying to get it done before the scout troop arrived and Dude had to go join them. Stressing myself out about something like that is the surest way to help along a failure.
So I think I will try again but this time I plan to pre-cook the crust most of the way so that it stays together a little better.
We'll see how it goes.
