As I said, the wedding went on without problems. In fact, the only boo boo the entire time was when they tried to roll out the paper 'carpet' for the bride to walk down. After 3 tries, it took my brother, the groom, and the best man standing on the end and holding it so the ushers could walk back and unroll it down the aisle. I think maybe God knew we needed to break some of the tension though. It was the wedding of two widows (widowed just over a year each) and He gave us all a chance to relax as the momentous event began.
Hubby snapped a few pics along with the official photographer. Here they are.
This is our family -- minus the bored but amazingly patient 6 year old flower girl. From the left was the Chick (a bridesmaid), some old lady who looks a lot like me (the matron of honor), my mom(the bride), the Dude (who walked her down the aisle and gave her away), my brother (who performed the ceremony), and his wife (another bridesmaid escorted by her husband though).
This is the new 'family' minus the bored flower girl. My brother and I next to our mom and John's daughter (also the eldest) and son next to him. We've got about a decade on them so that probably means we will have more additions as they marry and start their own families later. That makes me smile.
And finally the wedding party in full. We're flanked by the ushers who my mother considers her "other children." Other than his best man who was his son, I don't know the other two groomsmen -- only that one was his brother and one was his best friend.
The flower girl was a sweetheart. She was very curious about everything that was going on. And we got tickled as she very carefully placed one petal on the side of the paper with each step. I think it probably turned into March before she got down the aisle but it was so funny and sweet that no one minded.
