Orlando or Bust

We left for Hubby's business trip last Monday with only some slight trepidation at the look of desperation on Nipper's face when we dropped the dogs off at the kennel. As soon as we walked in, she turned around to leave. And you could tell she was wishing her old legs could make the leap over the little fence in the office.

We headed out and after about 5 hours or so, we got close enough to start seeing signs of Orlando. Like this one:And there were some strange buildings along the way...

Perhaps one of the strangest was just down from our hotel.

Yes, that building appears to be upside down.

We ate for the first time at one of these.

And finally we arrived here.

The hotel was pretty cool. When Hubby told them his family was with him, they gave us a 'mini-suite' which essentially looks like any other room with double beds but has this little enclosed are complete with bunk beds, its own tv, and a little table and stools.

The kids thought it was totally cool that they had their own space -- even the Chick who ended up sleeping in the other double bed after the first night. I guess the bunk beds weren't too comfy.

Every single night, including that first one, ended with some of this.

They had several pools on the hotel property so we got to choose which ones we wanted to swim in. And since we went at night, there was hardly anyone there so we got to swim by ourselves for the most part.

Probably the funniest thing about the area was the lizards.

There were literally dozens upon dozens. There were so many that any time we walked anywhere, they were running across the walk in front of us or along side us. One or two even scaled a couple of our feet.

There were so many that the kids began making a game of counting them every time we saw one. By the time we left on Thursday, they were around 113. Seriously.

Which probably explains why we didn't see that many flies.
