What IS This Place You've Brought Me To?

So, we move to Oklahoma. And the Blizzard of the Decade Parts 1 and 2 hit. Hmmm. Should I take that personally, do you think?

We closed on our house on January 20th. So we're at about 3 weeks now being in this house. The cat has gone outside, oh, about ONCE, for approximately 3 minutes. She doesn't seem to have any desire whatsoever to go back out. The other night, we opened the door for Rocky and her curiosity got the better of her. She stepped towards it with purpose... until the wind hit her and she immediately turned around and headed for warmer parts.

Rocky, on the other hand, was fine with his new backyard until it turned white. More than once. More than twice. He doesn't like that stuff at all.

When he asks to go out, we'll open the door for him. He'll pause and look up at us like "really. I have to go out there?" When we assure him he needs to "Go potty." very firmly, he takes a deep breath and sprints into the yard. He always glances back to make sure the door has actually closed behind him.

If you have a dog, you know they have to go in about 70 circles in the yard before they can take care of business. Rocky, being the highly intelligent creature he is... and also being exceptionally cold, will run in several circles around the yard and then suddenly stop and take care of things. The moment he is finished, he turns and sprints for the door (which often amazingly opens a moment before he gets to it).

I have always assumed the circling thing was sniffing out a spot. Now I know it's habit because (a) there is no way he could possibly be smelling anything while moving that fast with his head in the air and (b) if he did attempt to smell anything, he would just get a lot of white stuff up his sniffer since it would act more like a plow at that speed.

We go through the same cycles pretty much every time, several times a day. On the other hand, the humans in the household pretty much have just bundled up inside and thanked God (multiple times) for the blessing of electricity that has stayed on through it all.

Thanks again, God.
