This past weekend was Mustang's annual Western Days celebration. In addition to many other things, they set up a small carnival in the lot at their main cross streets, have a rodeo, magic show, car show, and parade. We attended the parade (minus the Chick who was begged to work since it happens that Arby's is one of the businesses in that same lot and they stay super busy the whole time) on Saturday morning.
They began with the typical police, fire, and ambulance cars.
presented the flags...
followed by the military...
and the Grand Marshal.
Then came the Teachers of the Year (riding in, of course, Mustangs)...
After that, the high school showed it's stuff.

You might recognize the Autism puzzle piece there.
More of the high schools...
If it's Western Days, you gotta know where to get your western wear.
The Chick did actually have to dress up for it. Thankfully, I had a denim shirt and cowgirl hat that she borrowed to go with her jeans. After that, the local businesses and such kicked in.

We didn't stay for the whole thing. Hubby and Dude were both starting to grumble (it was a little warm and I didn't bring any water). Rugrat and I were having fun though.
The Rugrat loves anything to do with outside and in this case, she was getting lots of time with the "pretty flowers" (= dead grass she kept pulling up) and flashing lights and clapping.
I was just the total nerd enjoying a hometown parade. No dead grass required.
