Its apparently something the waiting parents are doing in rounds on the message board I mentioned. I think it is a fabulous idea. One of the other parents suggested that the child will know just how much she was wanted when she sees how many people contributed to her quilt. I suggested to Daughter that we do it together. She has been sewing for about a year now and in fact did so for the majority of her Christmas gifts to others this last year. I think I will send letters to friends and family though. It would be really cool for Danielle to be able to point to pieces on the blanket and say who gave it to her. And to know that person was as excited about her as we are.

100 Wishes Quilt
So I complain about how frustrating the waiting is and how there is nothing to do in the meantime. And hello! I just found out about the 100 Wishes Quilt. There is a tradition in China that friends and families bring a square of fabric (usually 8x8) to a family who is expecting. They also bring a small swatch of the same fabric and a good wish for the baby. The squares are made into a blanket that is used to welcome the new baby. The swatches and good wishes are put into a memory book of some kind that will show the child who contributed which fabric and so forth. Because ladybugs are traditionally lucky, a lot of people try to find fabrics that have ladybugs on them.
