We've been watching this series on marriage on Sunday nights in our congregation. It's called 'Laugh your way to a better marriage.' It is funny, very funny and I'm enjoying it despite my general dislike of such things. The first week, though, my husband was out of town and so he missed it. We weren't aware they had classes for the children in the evenings so I had armed them with notebooks and pens. And of course, as any parent of siblings knows, I sat BETWEEN them on the pew.
So we were set. I thought. The first video was about the differences between men's and women's brains and how they think. My daughter however is in that giggly preteen age group and so after the first five minutes, she decided he was absolutely hilarious. She therefore spent the remainder of the video laughing constantly and silently slapping her leg. This I could have dealt with as there were several other adults there doing much the same thing. However, they were not sitting between Ozzy and Harriet. You see, on my other side, I had my serious 8 year old son looking up at me soberly and saying, "That's true, you know" about every thing the speaker said about men's thinking. I wasn't sure if I should laugh, cry, or take a Tylenol. We got through it though and I thought I was done. Until I heard references throughout the week to 'nothing boxes' etc. Apparently the video made quite an impression on them. I wonder if he makes one on how to improve your math grade. Hmmm...
