A Trip and A First

Yesterday, we (just us) were driven to Jiaoxuo, the city where her orphanage was located, to notarize all the adoption paperwork. This is how she spent it.
It was timed after lunch so this was one nap we didn't have to fight her to get her to take. Hubby took the picture sideways so I'm not really dropping her like it looks. I was leaned back and so was she. The only ones with us were the driver and the rep. I have decided that my policy here when being driven around is just to NOT look. I think the government here could save a lot of money just on the road paint. I don't know why they bother painting lines on the roads -- no one pays any attention to them. At one point, we were playing chicken with another vehicle and at another, he was just driving over the line for a bit. But we got there and back safely (although I wondered a few times) and all that is done.

Yesterday was also a first for Emily. She tried pizza (albeit a pretty awful one from the hotel restaurant) for the first time and we found that green peppers are not her thing. They didn't allow any substitutions and changes for it so we just pulled stuff off for her. She seemed to like it but it was a bad idea. We think it might have been the cheese (they aren't really used to dairy) but she woke up crying several times. Her tummy was hurting was the best reason we could think of. So now we know something to watch for. Today is a free day for us so we'll just hang out, I think.
