Monday morning was when Granny left.
Monday afternoon was when the big tornado hit in Moore.
I had just gotten to work when it started to storm. My co-worker (whom I was relieving) had just left and about made it home.
It started to rain like crazy. Then it started to hail -- massively large pieces of hail. It sounded like bowling balls bouncing on the roof. I later heard the weatherman say there was tennis ball sized hail coming down and that's about what I would guess.
I watched it break into pieces as it hit the ground outside. Before I got afraid of standing too near the windows, I took these with my phone through the door.
The pieces don't look large but this was as it just began. And it was pretty scary.
Fortunately, everything went past us but there were a few times I started to head for the bathroom to hide.
By now, most people have heard the news that Moore, a mere 40 minute drive from us, wasn't quite so lucky. My brother-in-law and his family live there but they were lucky too.
What a powerful reminder that the important things in life aren't THINGS.
