Once I cleared away the old projects, I began looking at some of the smaller pieces I had that were still big enough to do something with just not a whole dress or outfit.
One of those was a lovely white fabric with bright flowers on it that just screamed spring. I found a little jacket pattern that just fit -- as in the kind you might wear over a sundress.
Rugrat has asked to wear it several times already including recently when it was about 40 degrees outside. Uh. No. One of the reasons it screams spring is because it is VERY light fabric. So I have had to put her off until it is warmer.
She also got a skirt or two out of those smaller pieces.
Then I got creative with some of the smaller pieces. I had been needing a very small bag, just enough to hold my ID and some money, for things like theme parks and the fair. I wanted it to have a long enough strap that I could wear it cross body.
This was perfect, especially since we just renewed our Six Flags season passes. I still had some of this fabric left though. With some creative arranging of the pattern pieces, I managed to get a duffle out of it too.
I found one other small piece that I really wanted to use but couldn't figure out on what. I noticed the pattern had a smaller duffle on it so I gave it a go.
I managed to work in an inside pocket on this one, probably the first time I have done that. So Yay Me! lol
After that, Rugrat started getting several new dresses as I dug into the larger pieces. She liked that this one was light even though it was still stretchy fabric.
Notice that I learned my lesson and all of them have nice long skirts on them. Haha.
I had a heavy piece of fabric with a pretty design on it (although you can't see it in the picture) that made a perfect Christmas dress. This was a new one for me too because it was the first time I added a sewn-in petticoat.
I was able to throw in a sundress or two.
I still had a piece of fabric that I thought would be cute but couldn't decide how to fit on pattern pieces for a dress that would be long enough. So I added some white accents. I think it's one of my favorites finished even though I didn't think I would really care for it.
